Experience the Grit, Share the Distance: The New Trailwalker Relay

For decades, Trailwalker has been a highly respected event among the hiking, running and military communities. It is the ultimate test: 100km across the rolling hills of the South Downs, to be completed in under 30 hours.

But we know that while many dream of the finish line, the full 100km distance can feel daunting. That is why we are thrilled to introduce the Trailwalker Relay, the perfect way to experience the magic, grit, and prestige of this legendary event, but with the option of shorter distances.

All the Highlights, Shared Miles

The Trailwalker Relay is designed for those who want the full Trailwalker experience without the gruelling mileage. We’ve split the course into four sections of approximately 25km with relay team changeover at specific checkpoints. You get to decide how far you want to push yourself, as you can do more than one section of the relay. Whatever option you choose, you still get the stunning landscapes, the sunrise over the rolling hills, and that electric atmosphere at the finish line, but you get to do it with a strategy that plays to your team’s strengths.

Military Precision, Gurkha Spirit

What makes Trailwalker truly unique isn’t just the distance; it’s the heritage. This isn’t your average weekend trek.

– Military Precision: The event is organised by the Queen’s Gurkha Signals. From the checkpoints to the logistics, everything is run with absolute military efficiency.

– The Food of Legends: Forget standard energy gels. At Trailwalker, you are fueled by the best. Participants enjoy authentic, world-class curry prepared in military kitchens by Gurkha chefs—the same fuel that powers the toughest soldiers on earth.

– A Living Exercise: Trailwalker is still part of a formal Gurkha training exercise. When you step onto the trail, you are stepping into a piece of military life.

Run Alongside the Best

There is no motivation quite like being overtaken by a team of Gurkhas running uphill with weighted packs! The Relay allows you to compete alongside the soldiers themselves. The camaraderie on the trail is unmatched; the encouragement you receive from the Gurkha teams and the military staff at every checkpoint is will carry you through the long hours.

A Mission That Matters

Every step taken in the Relay serves a higher purpose. By participating, you are raising vital funds for The Gurkha Welfare Trust. Your efforts provide:

– Financial Aid: Supporting elderly veterans and widows in Nepal who have no other source of income.

– Clean Water: Building piped water systems for remote villages.

– Schools: Building brand-new facilities and refurbishing run-down buildings, giving the next generation of Gurkhas a safe place to learn.

– Medical Care: Delivering healthcare to the doorsteps of those living in the hills and remote villages of Nepal.

Are You Ready to Take the Baton?

The Trailwalker Relay is about teamwork in its purest form. It’s about the strategy of the handover, the cheers at the transition points, and the shared pride of supporting our Gurkha heroes.

Experience the South Downs. Taste the curry. Meet the Gurkhas. Take on the Relay.
