GWT Supporters Conquer London Landmarks 2026

We were thrilled to cheer on our 21 dedicated GWT supporters who took on the iconic London Landmarks Half Marathon this Sunday 12th April. The runners took in the sights of the capital, as they started at The Strand, and passed by Big Ben, St Paul’s Cathedral, Nelsons Column, The Gherkin, the Shard, Tower of London and the London Eye, before finishing at Downing Street.
We are delighted to announce that together our runners have raised over £8,000 for the Trust.
Excitement filled the air
Supporters were out in force and the day was filled with music and cheering as the runners made their way through the streets of London.

“Running the London Landmarks Half Marathon alongside my fellow Cheli warriors, a team of proud Nepali women serving in the British Army, was an unforgettable and deeply meaningful experience for us all. As daughters of families whose forefathers served with honour in The Brigade of Gurkhas, this moment carried a special significance. It was not only a physical challenge, but a tribute to a legacy of courage, service and sacrifice that continues through us today. We are sincerely grateful to GWT for the opportunity to represent you on such a memorable event.” Alena Gurung, Cheli Warriors

“Running the London Landmarks Half Marathon for The Gurkha Welfare Trust was more than a race, it was a journey of purpose. As someone who teaches Gurkha soldiers, I have seen first hand what incredible humans they are, their strength, humility and spirit. Taking on this challenge was my way of giving something back to those who give so much” Kathleen Huggins
“Running through the iconic landmarks of London was an incredible experience, and it was a true honour to represent both the GWT and my country. The team’s preparation and support were second to none, seeing familiar faces cheering me on along the route gave me the boost I needed to keep pushing. I’d jump at the chance to run for the GWT again in a heartbeat!” Henry Paribag
“I ran for the Gurkhas in tribute to my late father . He served alongside the Gurkhas , and spoke of them with the utmost respect, pride and admiration. It was my honour and pleasure to give something back to a people so humble and proud, they would never ask.” Rob Mackay
Our incredible runners
Each of our runners did a fantastic job on the day, with the fastest of our runners, Bishal Gc, completing the race in a speedy 01:34:29
We loved seeing our very own Event Manager, Keta Forde, out on the course, showing the same dedication she brings to our events!
To our runners and their generous sponsors, we’d like to say a huge “dhanyabad”! With your help, we can provide medical treatment to Gurkha veterans in their homes, and pay them a pension for their brave service fighting alongside Britain. The funds raised will also support veterans’ families, and provide vital aid to communities in Nepal.
