Johnny Fenn becomes a GWT Ambassador

The Gurkha Welfare Trust is delighted to welcome our newest Ambassador, Johnny Fenn. Our ambassadors work in partnership with us to help widen our appeal, reach new audiences, and promote our cause.

Johnny is a former British Army Officer with 25 years of service. The last 16 years were with the Brigade of Gurkhas. His Gurkha service took him to East Timor and Iraq, before being posted back to the UK as Deputy Chief of Staff for the Brigade of Gurkhas.

On promotion to Lieutenant Colonel, Johnny was appointed British Military Advisor to ECOWAS in Nigeria, before completing his military service as the Field Director of The Gurkha Welfare Trust in Pokhara, Nepal.

He is now a professional photographer and explorer, and he has travelled the globe on photographic adventures. Since becoming a photographer, Johnny has returned to Nepal at least once every year.

Johnny played senior rugby for Northampton, and represented the Army and Combined Services over 6 years.

Al Howard, CEO of The Gurkha Welfare Trust, said:

“I am delighted that Johnny has agreed to be a GWT Ambassador. You would be hard-pushed to find an individual who personifies our raison d’être any more than him. Johnny has a tireless work ethic and a deep passion for all things Nepal. We look forward to working with him closely for many more years to come.”

Our team is very pleased to have Johnny as an Ambassador, and we look forward to working together to raise awareness of our work supporting Gurkha veterans, their families, and communities in Nepal.
