Jim Morton is doing it again!
The man who walked over 9500 miles around the coast of the UK has set himself a new challenge.

This June, Jim Morton, Author of ‘I May Be Gone a While’ and supporter of The Gurkha Welfare Trust, will be walking the length of the five beaches of the D-Day Normandy landings, raising money for The Gurkha Welfare Trust.
Jim’s inspiration to take on this challenge stemmed from his father. At only 21 years of age, he fought on Sword Beach during the D-Day landings 80 years ago. Jim believes that this one day defined his whole life.
“When you look at the photos of him, he was 21, but he only looked about 12 to be honest on some of the pictures. It must have been terrifying for him.”
Jim’s affinity with the Gurkhas began during his time in the Navy on his first ship HMS Gurkha in 1977. “It’s not the places we have been, but the people we have met that we will remember.”
In April 2021, Jim embarked on a 9500 mile walk around the coast of the UK to fulfil his life ambition of visiting all 243 lighthouses on mainland Britain whilst raising money for The Gurkha Welfare Trust. Jim set a target of £50,000 and reached an incredible £40,000 through fundraising and the sale of his book ‘I May be Gone a While’.
