Last week, we took part in Global Handwashing Day, an international advocacy day dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding about the importance of handwashing with soap as an effective and affordable way to prevent diseases and save lives.

Preventing the spread of the virus by washing hands

Global Handwashing Day is part of a month-long Hand Hygiene for All campaign. To beat the virus today and ensure better health outcomes beyond the pandemic, handwashing with soap must be a priority now and in the future. Hygiene for All is a threefold plan to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus:

1. Encourage people to wash their hands with soap and water
2. Communicate the risks of COVID-19 to prevent the spread of the disease
3. Work with the Government to come up with innovative solutions

We’ve been participating in both Global Handwashing Day and Hygiene for All awareness programmes to help protect Gurkha veterans and their wider communities.
