Brightening their beverages

Gurkha veterans and widows at our Residential Home in Dharan were very excited to receive some early Christmas presents recently.

We brightened up their beverages by giving them each a personalised mug, featuring a photograph of themselves!

The residents were delighted with their new mugs and were more than willing to pose for photos.

Our two Residential Homes in Nepal provide round-the-clock care to Gurkha veterans and widows who would otherwise struggle to live independently. They combine the best in western geriatric care with an eastern culture of respect for elders.

Residential Home Nurse Samjhana Gurung was elated that they all enjoyed their gifts:

“What a wonderful day! They were all so happy to see their pictures on the mugs. Happiness, that’s all that matters.”

A practical solution

Not only is this a fun way to bring a smile to the face of our elderly pensioners, but it also solves the problem of which mug belongs to each of them.

Mamata Dewan, another Residential Home Nurse added:

“This was a wise decision from our colleague. The residents sometimes lose their utensils or get them muddled up with others. This is a great solution.”
