Joanna Lumley leads BBC R4 Appeal

Our Vice Patron Joanna Lumley OBE is leading a BBC Radio 4 Appeal in aid of the Trust’s earthquake response.

With many Gurkha veterans and widows currently spending the winter in temporary shelters, donors to the appeal will help us to rebuild and repair their shattered homes.

You can listen to Joanna’s appeal on the BBC website. Online donations via the BBC site will switch to the next appeal from Sunday 17th January.

Joanna and the GWT

As a daughter of the Brigade – her father was in the 6th Gurkha Rifles – the Gurkhas have always held a special place in Joanna’s heart.

She kindly agreed to become a Vice Patron of the charity in 2009 and has been an active supporter of our work, visiting a number of our projects in Nepal along the way.

Hear Joanna speak about her involvement with the Trust in her own words:

Gurkha 200

During last year’s Gurkha bicentenary, Joanna also supported various fundraising events including narrating at our spectacular Gurkha 200 Pageant, attended by HM The Queen.

We’re grateful to Joanna and all the other Gurkha 200 Ambassadors who supported us throughout 2015.
