The Queen’s Gurkha Signals Take on Public Duty
The Queen’s Gurkha Signals take on Public Duty in London for the first time as a unit this month where they will guard Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, St James Palace, and Windsor Castle. This year marks the 75 year Anniversary of The Queen’s Gurkha Signals and it is a great honour to take on this high-profile role.
Lance Corporal Amrit Pun told Forces News: “I’ve been in the British Army for five years now. We don’t get this kind of golden opportunity often.”
The unit successfully passed their Fit For Role inspection on 18th April, where they took part in intense drill sessions and were scrutinised from head to toe to ensure that their bearing, discipline, uniform and kukris were to the very highest standards required to guard the Royal Palaces. The Band of the Brigade of Gurkhas showed their support at the Inspection as they played during the changing of the guard ceremonies.
