A slice of Gurkha culture at Jimmy’s Festival 2018

If you’re attending over the weekend, be sure to pay our stand a visit to find out more about the amazing work we do with Gurkha veterans, widows and their communities across Nepal. We’ll be located just next to the kitchen demo tent.

We’ll be present on the stand throughout the weekend with lots of fun activities for children on offer and some amazing prizes up for grabs.  Rumour has it that a Yeti has escaped from the Himalayas and may be stalking around the festival site eyeing up Jimmy’s livestock! I wonder if he’ll make an appearance?

Be sure to turn your eyes towards the stage on both Saturday and Sunday afternoon to watch the infamous Kukuri Dance. The traditional Nepali dance will be performed by current soldiers serving in the Brigade of Gurkhas. Then, when they’ve finished dancing, come along to the Trust stand to meet them and find out what it’s like to be in one of the most feared and respected Army Brigades in the world.

Once you’ve had your fill of Nepali culture, get your fill of Nepali food! Mobile Nepali cuisine will be available in the form of delicious ‘Momos’. The tasty dumplings will be on sale at Momo Time with a percentage of all proceeds going to the Trust.

The Trust’s Head of Fundraising Samantha Cherrington commented:

“The team here are all really looking forward to a brilliant weekend at Jimmy’s Festival.

By nominating The Gurkha Welfare Trust as their charity of the year, the Festival have given us a great platform to speak to people about all the brilliant work our charity does in the hills of Nepal. I hope to see you there!”
