A stunning Himalayan garden created for GWT

Jane Scott Moncrieff and The Gurkha Welfare Trust Reunite for the RHS Sandringham Flower Show

We are delighted to have the opportunity to collaborate with award-winning Norfolk garden designer Jane Scott Moncrieff once again as we prepare for the upcoming RHS Sandringham Flower Show.

The Sandringham Flower Show is an exciting new RHS venture that will be held in the grounds of the Royal family-owned Norfolk estate between 22-26 July 2026.

In 2018, Jane’s stunning “Himalayan Garden” took Sandringham by storm, securing both a coveted Gold Medal and the prestigious Best in Show award. Recreating the vibrant, high-altitude flora of Nepal under intense summer heat, the garden stood as a beautiful testament to the rugged landscapes the Gurkhas call home. Jane followed this success in 2019 at BBC Gardeners’ World Live, building an equally evocative Himalayan display through torrential downpours—proving a true “Gurkha spirit” of resilience in adversity.

The climate-resilient garden

For this year’s show, Jane has designed The Chestnut Group Garden for The Gurkha Welfare Trust within the Grow Forward category. Inspired by the native landscapes of the Himalayas, this climate-resilient garden is cleverly split into three distinct zones: a lush woodland, a functional rain garden, and a dry gravel area.

Featuring sustainable materials—including a recycled steel pergola modelled after iconic Nepalese metal water bottles—the garden is designed to raise vital awareness and funds for GWT’s ongoing medical, financial, and community aid for veterans and their families in Nepal.
