GWT supporters conquer London Landmarks Half Marathon

Vasantha Pather Lowen holding her London Landmarks Half Marathon medal

On Sunday 2 April, our team of 14 supporters joined a crowd of thousands who ran the iconic London Landmarks Half Marathon. Taking in the sights of the capital, they started at The Strand, and passed by Big Ben, St Pauls Cathedral, Nelsons Column, The Gherkin, the Shard, Tower of London and the London Eye, before finishing at Downing Street. Each dedicated runner pledged to raise £300 for the Gurkha Welfare Trust, giving Gurkha veterans and their families in Nepal the means to live with dignity.

We’re pleased to report that our runners raised an incredible £4,400 for the Trust, and achieved some fantastic finishing times. Rohit Rana completed the 13.1 mile course in 01:29:49, Mohanraj Rana in 01:50:46, Sujan Bhatta in 01:54:12, and Paul Waters in 01:56:52.

Thank you to our runners

To our runners and their generous sponsors, we’d like to say a huge “dhanyabad”! With your help, we are able to provide medical treatment to Gurkha veterans in their homes, and pay them a pension for their brave service fighting alongside Britain. The funds raised will also support veterans’ families, and provide vital aid to communities in Nepal.
