Host a Garden Gala in aid of Gurkha veterans
This summer we are asking our wonderful supporters to open their gardens and host a Gala for The Gurkha Welfare Trust. Galas will be held across the country throughout the summer, giving us an opportunity to honour the Gurkhas’ contribution to the British Armed Forces.
Invite your family and friends round for a garden party, curry lunch or cream tea, or hold a children’s party with fun games and activities!
Register here and we’ll send you a fundraising pack with some handy tips for your open garden. We also have a wide range of resources available on our Garden Gala Hub to help you set up a fantastic event and raise funds to support Gurkha veterans and their families in Nepal.
Last year our supporters had great fun hosting Galas at home and in workplaces across the UK.
Don Hyatt was delighted to get the neighbours round for tea and cake in his courtyard garden.
“It was great to see some friends after the last year, and we even had two passing cars stop to pop over, say hello and donate. I enjoyed it and hopefully can hold another one next year.”
Another successful event was held at The Military Corrective Training Centre in Colchester, where staff and visitors enjoyed a delicious home-cooked Nepalese curry with momos and fresh roti. Event organiser Lt Col Lee Pearce, said:
“Gurkhas are an integral part of the British Army, and we are lucky to have some of those Gurkhas who have chosen to transfer to the wider British Army. I am proud to serve alongside them. As a regiment we should ensure that the veterans are not forgotten and we owe a duty to support them, their families, and the communities in Nepal.”
