Gallery: Reaching Gurkha veterans in lockdown
We’re doing everything we can to reach Gurkha veterans and widows during these unprecedented times
In response to the increase of COVID-19 cases last month, Nepal’s Home Ministry imposed strict restrictions on movement between Districts. Operating in 20 Welfare Centres across the country, we were already in a strong position to continue reaching Gurkha veterans and widows in all areas. With Pensioner Support Teams positioned in all of our offices, our teams have been distributing a supply of PPE, financial aid and medical aid to those who need it.
In Nepal, a sudden outbreak could be devastating. Because many of the Gurkha veterans and widows we support are over the age of 80, they’re particularly at risk. Despite a country-wide lockdown, we’re doing everything we can to keep them safe.
