Thank you Keela

Just over a week ago, our GWT staff were out on the South Downs for Trailwalker 2024; an annual event that can bless us with glorious sunshine or thundery showers, and for many a cold night or two spent cheering on our participants! This year, to keep our staff extra dry and warm, we were delighted to receive 25 waterproof jackets kindly donated by our corporate partner Keela, who manufacture quality outdoor clothing and kit. Keela also personalised the jackets with our GWT logo!

Whether battling the winds on the hilltop at Checkpoint 7, or holding off the chill on the start line at 6am, we were all grateful for the warmth and comfort provided by the new jackets.

“Trailwalker is not just a mighty challenge for walkers and runners – everyone involved puts in a huge effort. We rely on staff and volunteers to help the event run smoothly, and provide the all-important encouragement and motivation for teams as they come through each checkpoint. As teams battled on through the night, we were on hand to keep their spirits up and to cheer them on. I for one was incredibly grateful to be warm and comfortable on my night shift!” – Heather, GWT Comms Team and CP5 volunteer.

Thank you Keela for your commitment to our cause and for your generosity in donating these superb jackets. We can rest assured that when the next event comes round we will be ready – whatever the weather!< Below - patches in progress and the finished product.

Keela International Ltd joined us as a corporate partner in 2022. Keela has provided quality outdoor clothing for over 30 years from its base on the East Coast of Scotland, the perfect place to innovate and test outdoor garments for the changeable British weather. Having read about The Gurkha Welfare Trust’s work, Keela decided to donate cold-weather clothing to the GWT team in Nepal. At the time Keela’s support complimented the Trust’s 2022 Winter Allowance, through which our team distributed warm hats, gloves, and scarves to Gurkha pensioners.
