The Welfare Walks

Walk with purpose. Walk for change.

The Welfare Walks are annual virtual walking series supporting different areas of the Gurkha Welfare Trust’s work.

Participants who complete this challenge multiple years will collect a series of medals, each representing a different area of welfare support.

Complete all five virtual challenges in the series to receive the ultimate The Welfare Walks Champion medal.

Every step brings clean water closer.

This year we are asking you to join our virtual walk and  ‘Walk for Water.’

In rural Nepal, many women and children walk up to 3 miles each day just to collect water for their families. Through the month of May, take on Welfare Walks: Walk for Water and step into the daily journey many people in rural Nepal face.  Each day, you’ll walk the distance it can take to reach a safe water source for many, experiencing the challenge for yourself while helping bring clean water closer to Gurkha communities.

Set your target

We suggest 3 miles as your daily goal but you can set your own target, as long as you aim to walk every day. It could be your daily dog walk or just around the block in your lunchbreak… or you could really challenge yourself and aim for a longer distance.

Track your progress on Enthuse as you make your way through the month and celebrate your achievements along the way, whilst fundraising towards a target of £100. Whether you walk solo, with friends, family, or even your dog, every step helps make a real difference.

This year to celebrate everyone who joins the challenge, we will install a commemorative plaque on the completed a water system in Nepal, recognising all participants who helped make the project possible. This water system is where your funds you raise will go, you will receive updates along the way of the progress of the project in Nepal.
