Restoring Mobility and Dignity at Bhojpur Fitment Camp
Prosthetic devices can be truly life-changing, restoring independence and confidence to individuals who have lost a limb. They go beyond simply replacing a missing body part; they empower people to regain their mobility, return to daily activities, and pursue their passions. By providing a sense of normalcy and restoring physical capabilities, modern prosthetics allow people to lead fulfilling lives and overcome what might have once seemed like an insurmountable obstacle.
Helping those in remote parts of Nepal
Thanks to the support of our donors, we are able to hold medical and fitment camps in remote regions of Nepal, with some villagers travelling for days to access treatment they would not normally have access to.
In May our team held a Rehabilitation Measurement Camp in Dandagaon, Bhopur, where 69 people were measured for prosthetic and orthotic devices.
During the follow-up fitment camp, 67 individuals attended, with technical support provided by Community-Based Rehabilitation organisation CBR Biratnagar. 91 prosthetic and assistive devices that had been carefully measured in the earlier camp were distributed, ensuring the right fit for each individual.
Arjun’s Story

“I am Arjun, 19 yrs old and from Pauwadungba, Bhojpur. A few years ago, I lost one of my legs while working. After that, I received an artificial leg from Birjung, but it was very difficult for me to use. It hurt me, caused wounds, and I could hardly walk properly.
Then I heard about the medical camp and came here to give my measurement. Then, in the fitment camp, I finally received a new leg. I can’t explain how happy and relieved I feel like I have been given a new chance to live my life.
I want to sincerely thank the Gurkha Welfare Trust team for helping me. At the same time, I request you to please support other persons with disabilities who are living in remote areas like mine. Many of them are waiting for this kind of help, and I hope they can also get the same happiness I am feeling today.”
Holding a Pen Again After almost 17 Years: Rem Chandra Rai’s Story

“In 2007, while working in a factory in Malaysia, I met with an accident and lost my hand and had to come back Nepal. Since that day, my life changed forever. For 17 long years, I lived with this loss unable to write, unable to do simple tasks with ease, and carrying a heavy pain in my heart. Last month, when I came to the medical camp organised by GWT, I gave my measurement with the hope that maybe, after so many years, I could get back a part of what I had lost. Today, that hope has turned into reality.
After losing my hand in an accident 17 years ago, I never imagined I would hold a pen again. Today, with my new artificial hand, I wrote for the first time as I even signed the GWT consent form with my right hand, something I never had.
This hand will help me in my daily household work, but more than that it has given me back my dignity, my confidence, and my joy. 🙂🙂🙂”
A Renewed Sense of Hope: Sanjip Rai’s Story

“A few months back, I attended the medical camp at Bhojpur Hospital Premises organised by GWT(N), and recently I received two new artificial legs. Earlier, I had been using artificial legs from another organisation, but over time they wore out and began to hurt my thigh muscles, making it very difficult to walk. With these new legs, I now feel comfort, relief, and above all, a renewed sense of hope. For me, it is not only about walking again- it is about standing high, living with dignity and moving forward in life.
I am married, and my wife, who is also living with a disability, has always stood by me with love and courage. I have training in mobile phone repairing, and my dream is to open a small shop near our rural municipality office. With her support, I believe I can work hard and create a better life for us both.
Camps like this make us feel truly supported, because they give us hope. Our lives are sensitive, and such support touches us deeply not just in a practical way, but also emotionally, reminding us that we are not alone.
We know how important it is to have the right assistive devices, as they directly affect our comfort and independence. Thank you The Gurkha Welfare Trust Family. I myself signed the consent form to send my messages to this wonderful team there.”
Going the Extra Mile: Nabaraj’s Story

“About two months ago, I was taken by my sister to the medical camp organised by GWT(N). This week was the fitment camp, but due to bad weather and family reasons, I could not attend. My sister communicated with Jay Sir, and with his kindness and the dedication of his team, they made a way for me to receive a CP chair.
When I received the chair, I was filled with joy. It is more than just a chair—it is a gift of hope that will help improve my mobility. I am happy so my family is. Herewith, want to share my happiness through this picture.
My heartfelt thanks to Jay Sir and his entire team at GWT.”
These simple moments of happiness remind us how assistive devices transform lives, bringing dignity, independence, and hope.
