Our month in pictures
Visiting brave veterans and widows at home
As always, our Pensioner Support Teams have been travelling across the often difficult terrain of Nepal in order to bring money, medical assistance and warm clothes for the winter to Gurkha veterans and their families.

Global Handwashing Day
Global Handwashing Day took place on 15 October.
When we bring clean water to villages in Nepal, we also educate locals on the importance of sanitation.
Over the past year, we have seen significant improvements in handwashing amongst the communities we work in. This has resulted in a substantial reduction in cases of waterborne diseases.
Next year we will build over 100 new water projects benefiting thousands and will continue to educate communities about the importance of sanitation.
Pension payment days at our Area Welfare Centres
The beginning of October saw pension payment week at all of our Welfare Centres across Nepal. Although we offer to deliver their pensions to their homes, many Gurkha pensioners travel from far and wide to our offices to collect theirs in person and chat with old comrades and friends.
Dashain
Our Gurkha veterans and widows have been celebrating across Nepal in our Residential Homes, Welfare Centres and in their own homes.
Home refurbishment for Agambahadur Thapa
“Thank you Gurkha Welfare Trust”
Not only do we rebuild homes that have been completely destroyed, we also work to improve homes for Gurkha veterans and widows to ensure they can live with dignity.
We’ve just finished refurbishing Gurkha veteran Rifleman Agambahadur Thapa’s home, including replacing the roof and improving the walls. He’s very pleased with the result.
