GWT supporters triumph in London Landmarks 2024
Our team of 19 supporters took on the London Landmarks Half Marathon this Sunday 7th April. Taking in the sights of the capital, they started at The Strand, and passed by Big Ben, St Pauls Cathedral, Nelsons Column, The Gherkin, the Shard, Tower of London and the London Eye, before finishing at Downing Street.
We are delighted to announce that together our runners have raised over £7,500 for the Trust.
Some of our runners completed the course in eye-wateringly fast times, with Sudeep Maden crossing the finish line in only 01:30:44, shortly followed by Michael Lewis who came in at 01:42:20 and Nick Evans who completed the race in under two hours at 01:55:58.
The atmostphere was electric
The day was filled with music and cheering as the runners made their way through the streets of London.
“I was really nervous before the race as the distance is further than I have run for a very long time but with the wonderful support of the GWT team cheering us on and all of the incredible entertainment along the way, not to mention the views, the miles were made memorable and the day was truly fantastic.”
A massive thank you to our runners
To our runners and their generous sponsors, we’d like to say a huge “dhanyabad”! With your help, we are able to provide medical treatment to Gurkha veterans in their homes, and pay them a pension for their brave service fighting alongside Britain. The funds raised will also support veterans’ families, and provide vital aid to communities in Nepal.
