Hari Budha Magar Wins Prestigious Soldiering On Award

GWT Ambassador and record breaking mountaineer, Hari Budha Magar has been awarded the Inspiration Award by public vote at the Soldiering On Awards 2024.

The Inspiration Award honours a person that has overcome significant challenge, injury or disability, inspiring others in the Armed Forces community with their outstanding achievements in personal endeavour, campaining, sport or the workplace.

Hari made history last year by becoming the first double above-knee amputee to reach the summit of Everest, an incredible feat of courage and endurance. Hari, a veteran of the Royal Gurkha Rifles, took on this challenge to raise awareness of disability and changing perceptions on what is possible.

Ever-humble Hari commented:

“I am not sure I deserve this award in front of two legends but I am honoured to receive the Inspiration Award on Soldering On Awards. I am climbing “7 Summits” which are the highest mountain in each continent, I have climbed 4 and 3 to go to make awareness disability, Armed Forces Community and inspire other to climb their own mountain and conquer their dream.

Together, we can change perception on persons with disability and prove that “Nothing is Impossible”
