Cycling 1900kms for Nepal

The Challenge

Lieutenant William Kriehn of the Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment will be taking on the phenomenal challenge of cycling 1900 km through 7 countries in 17 days later this month, raising money for The Gurkha Welfare Trust.

William’s epic journey will begin in Calais, France on 24th July. He will begin his 17-day challenge, cycling around 120kms a day through Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Luxembourg and Switzerland, a journey which will push him to his physical limits.

The Route

The Inspiration

William has been working alongside Gurkhas for the last two years. He has been so inspired by the character of his comrades that he has decided to undertake this huge challenge to give something back.

“These soldiers and their families are truly amazing. They are some of the most selfless people I have ever worked with and learning about their homes back in Nepal has been inspiring. Over the past 200 years, thousands of Gurkhas have left their homes, families and everything they know to come to the UK and serve in the British Army.

Considering where they have grown up and how little some of them and their families have, they are generous and will always put other people first. They form a vital part of what we do and for that reason, I want to give something back to them.”

The Goal

William’s goal is to raise £5000 to be able to pay for an Earthquake-Resilient home in Nepal to keep Gurkha veterans safe should disaster strike.
