GWT Ambassador Kenton Cool Makes History

GWT Ambassador and World Record Breaking Mountaineer, Kenton Cool has made History again today by reaching the Summit of Mount Everest for the 20th time.

Kenton is the first person in history to complete the ‘Everest Triple Crown’ — the peaks of Everest, Nuptse and Lhotse — in one continuous push from base camp. He remains the only non-Sherpa to have summited Everest 19 times, (a figure he has now increased to 20!), and was the first non-Asian to climb Everest twice in one week.

After a severe climbing fall in 1996, Kenton shattered both of his heel bones and was told he would never walk unaided again. Defying these odds has made each of these achievements even more inspiring.

Whatever the setting, Kenton has the rare ability to encourage individuals and teams to move beyond their perceived tolerance level: safely, efficiently and with purpose. Crucially, he believes that success only comes to those that are enjoying the process – “the summit is optional, getting back down is mandatory, owning the experience is the legacy – mindset is everything.”

Kenton regards Nepal as his second home and is deeply committed to the work The Gurkha Welfare Trust does to enable Gurkha veterans to live in dignity.

Deeply committed to the Trust, Kenton recently launched a unique way to support our work: a world-first gin, carefully crafted with a drop of melted snow collected from the summit of Everest in every bottle.

Kenton has kindly pledged a portion of profits from the sale of every bottle of Everest Gin to be donated to The Gurkha Welfare Trust.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Kenton for his support and say a massive congratulations from everyone at The Gurkha Welfare Trust for his awe inspiring 20th summit.
