GWT Supporter’s Triple Triumph
Earlier this year, one ambitious GWT Supporter set himself not one, not two, but three challenges as he signed up for the Chester Triple Series to raise money for The Gurkha Welfare Trust.
Taking on the Chester Triple
The Chester Triple is a series of three races,
1. MBNA Chester 10K
2. The Essar Chester Half Marathon (21k)
3. Metric Marathon (26k)
“I have always been a big fan of the Gurkhas, I have a few family members and friends who are or have been in the British armed forces and some of those have been alongside the Gurkhas while serving. They are an amazing regiment that the UK should be thankful to have on our side. I am also a keen mountaineer and Nepal is on my bucket list of destinations in places I wish to visit and hike one day. I found out about the GWT through an event that I have tickets for next month to hear the story of Hari Budha Magar and his time with the Gurkas and then how he went on to conquer Everest after losing both his legs.”
Stepping foward
The first of the three races took place on 9 March 2025. Kieran completed the 10k race in 58 minutes and 6 seconds.
His second challenge, the Chester Half Marathon, followed on 18 May 2025.
“This race was a half marathon distance which I completed in 02:09:58. I am very proud of that time and whole training process leading up to this race really has been a deep lesson into how determination, building positive habits daily and having a clear dedicated goal can bring results at a totally new level.”
Kieran completed his third, final and arguably toughest challenge last weekend on 5 October.
“This series of races has taught me that with hard work, adequate training and a little determination ANY obstacle or challenge can be overcome by anyone and this is definitely something I will now continue to apply to all aspects of life.”
