Trailwalker 2021 – are you ready for the challenge?
Taking place on 24-26 September 2021, Trailwalker is the ultimate team endurance event. The challenge is to walk, jog or run 100km non-stop across the South Downs Way in under 30 hours. You’ll take part in a team of four, with a support crew of two members to help you get to the finish line.
This is your chance to take part in an unforgettable journey with a team of friends, and help raise funds to support Gurkha veterans, their families and communities in Nepal.
Starting at Queen Elizabeth Country Park early on Saturday morning, the Trailwalker route takes you through stunning scenery along the South Downs Way to the finish line at Brighton Racecourse. You will be helped along the way by your support crew and will pass through 9 checkpoints along the course.
Nothing can beat the feeling of elation as you cross the finish line after your epic journey… unless it’s the thought of the delicious Gurkha curry awaiting you!
Two fantastic causes
The event is run in partnership with Oxfam, and each Trailwalker team pledges to raise £1,400 for Oxfam and The Gurkha Welfare Trust as part of their challenge. On average teams raise over £1,700 and there are some tempting incentives for champion fundraisers, including technical t-shirts and a free entry to next year’s event.

Be part of something amazing
Originally formed as a Gurkha training exercise in Hong Kong in 1981, over the years Trailwalker UK has become a famous fundraising challenge with both civilian and military teams taking part. The event is supported by The Queen’s Gurkha Signals and a host of enthusiastic volunteers who will be cheering you on along the way.
Last year’s event was a little different, with 200 teams completing a 100k relay in their own time, in local parks and countryside. Participants didn’t have the same crowds of volunteers and Gurkha soldiers cheering them on. They didn’t have the delicious curry waiting for them at the end. But what they did have was amazing grit and determination to complete their feat to raise money for our causes.
We are delighted that this year the event can return to the beautiful South Downs and you will have that great feeling of camaraderie as you join hundreds of supporters taking part in this adventure with you.
In 2019 The Queens Gurkha Signals Team completed the 100km course in an incredible 10 hours 25 minutes! That’s an incentive to start your training now. But whether you are walking, jogging or running, you will all be winners and to complete this challenge will be an achievement you will never forget.
Registration is now open for civilian and military teams
If you are not sure about tackling the 100km, you can still be a part of this incredible event. For the event to run smoothly we need an army of volunteers to assist with registration and at checkpoints, helping to look after the teams and most importantly cheering them on!
It’s sure to be an inspiring weekend and a fantastic opportunity to meet the amazing participants, and chat to the volunteers and Gurkhas who will be supporting the event.
If you can spare some time to help over the weekend please get in touch.
