Well done Doko South Challengers 2022

Our Doko South Challenge was a big success this year, and we want to congratulate everyone who took part in the race on Sunday, 12 June.

Based on the traditional Gurkha Recruitment Doko race in Nepal, the challenge saw participants run 5km through Wimbledon Common, carrying a traditional Doko basket weighing either 5kg, 10kg or 15kg with a time to beat of 46 minutes. It was a challenging cross-country route with a few hills, and all the runners put in a huge effort despite the hot weather.

The event was a great success with 100% of participants finishing the course, the leader in an incredible 19:30. Whatever your time was, you deserve a Gurkha salute.

There were many great moments throughout the day, from preparing Doko baskets to warm-up exercises, and of course the thrilling race itself! Once everyone crossed the finish line, they were treated to some delicious Nepali street food courtesy of Urban Yak. Many thanks to our Ambassador, Hari Budha Magar, for awarding medals to participants at the finish line!
