The 2.6 Challenge

The organisers of the biggest mass participation sports events across the country have come together to create a new campaign to raise vital funds for the UK’s charities.

The campaign, The 2.6 Challenge, will launch on Sunday 26 April – what should have been the date of the 40th edition of the London Marathon, the world’s biggest one day annual fundraising event, which raised £66.4 million for charities in 2019.

From Sunday 26 April, we’re asking you to dream up an activity based around the numbers 2.6 or 26 and fundraise by creating a 2.6 Challenge fundraising page or donate to The Gurkha Welfare Trust through Just Giving or Virgin Money Giving via twopointsixchallenge.co.uk

Ideas to get you started

1. Run 2.6 km each day for 26 days

2. Bake 26 different treats

3. Cycle 26km

4. Grow a beard for 26 days

5. Dance for 26 minutes each day for 26 days

6. Learn 26 news words in another language

7. Read 26 new books

8. Make 26 golf putts from 2.6 meters

9. 26-minute silence with the whole family!

10. Give up something for 26 days

Fundraise from your own Home

Step One – First up you need to what fundraising activity you might do.

Step Two – Set up an online giving page and start telling your family and friends all about your fundraising.

Step Three – Can you create a mini fundraising brigade? Would any of your friends and family take part from their own home?

Step Four – Enjoy your fundraising activity. Don’t forget to take lots of photos so we can see what you have been up too.

Step Five – Pay in your fundraising.

Whatever you plan to do, and however much raise, you will be helping Gurkha veterans like Rifleman Dhana Bahadur Rai.
