Spiced Kheer Recipe


1l Milk
125g Long grain rice
50g Desiccated coconut
2tbsp Caster sugar
1/2-1tsp Spices of your choice (e.g. cardamon, cinnamon or cloves)
Optional: dried fruit and/or nuts


1. Add the milk and rice to a pan and bring to a boil
2. Reduce the heat to a simmer and stir in the grated coconut and your choice of spices
3. Simmer for around 15-20 minutes to cook the rice before adding and continuously stirring in the sugar
4. Once the sugar dissolves, allow to simmer for a further 10 minutes
5. When the mixture has reached a rice pudding consistency, remove from the heat

May be served hot or cooled by refrigerating for 3-4 hours before serving.
