It takes Gurkha know-how to bring clean drinking water, healthcare and schools to the most remote corners of Nepal.
Nepal is a remote, rugged, mountainous country. Bringing even the most basic infrastructure – plumbing, medical care, schooling – to its remote mountain communities is a monumental undertaking. An undertaking that requires military-style planning, ingenuity, determination and grit – the very qualities that the Gurkhas are renowned for.
The Gurkha Welfare Trust has been working hand in hand with Gurkha communities throughout Nepal for over 50 years. Many of our team in the field are themselves ex-Gurkhas and it’s their local knowledge and military expertise that makes our work in this challenging country possible.
Over the next year, our team aims to deliver 83 water and sanitation projects, provide medical care to 30,000 individuals, build three new schools and extend or refurbish another 84. To achieve this we need your help.
