This month sees the return of Britain’s annual legacy giving awareness drive – Remember A Charity Week – from 7-13 September.

Year on year, around 20-30% of our income is received through the generosity of supporters who think of the Trust when writing their Will.

Once loved ones are cared for, leaving funds to a cause that’s dear to your heart is one of the greatest gifts you can give.

Why have an awareness week?

According to Rob Cope, Director of the Remember A Charity consortium: “There remains a significant gap between the number of people that support charities regularly and those that remember a charity in their Will.”

This week is about trying to make legacy giving a social norm. 17% of people in the UK now say that they’ve included a gift in their Will (up from 14% in 2013). We hope that this trend will continue as people realise the importance and opportunities of legacy giving.

The difference your gift can make

In light of the recent earthquakes and the enormous challenges now facing the Trust, we are in need of your support more than ever before.

As we reach the end of the current monsoon, we begin the long process of rebuilding the homes and lives of Gurkha veterans and their communities.

Donors to the Trust can know that their gift will truly leave a lasting legacy – an indelible mark of solidarity and respect for Gurkha soldiers on their homeland’s rolling hills.

You don’t have to tell us when you decide to give a gift in your Will, but we’d love to hear from you if you want to let us know about it.
