Dr Deepak Mall is one of the GWTs mobile doctors. He treks across the Hills to seek out those too sick or lame to leave their remote villages. In a country where medical facilities can be days away by foot or on stretchers, the mobile doctor scheme is an innovative solution to the problem of getting first class medical care to the most needy.
Dr Mall comes from a distinguished military family, his father having served with the Queen's Gurkha Signals. When his childhood dream to follow in his father's footsteps faltered at the very last stage of the gruelling selection process, Dr Mall headed to Moscow to study medicine. He returned to Nepal compelled to make a contribution to his father's old comrades.
A dedicated and respected member of the Trust's staff, Dr Mall is recently married and even spent part of his honeymoon on duty at AWC Dharan.
