Scottish Branch raises £2,000 at the Braemar Gathering

The Scottish Branch of The Gurkha Welfare Trust have raised fantastic sums for our veterans and widows in Nepal.

The people of Scotland have a long association with the Gurkhas. In many of the conflicts in the Gurkhas' 200 year history in the British Army, the Scots have stood proudly at their side.

Today these links are as strong as ever and in nowhere was it more obvious than at this year's Braemar Gathering, where The Gurkha Welfare Trust's Scottish Branch were in attendance.

The prestigious event was attended by the Queen, Prince Philip, the Prime Minister and Mrs Cameron and featured competitions between pipers and drummers, athletics and a tug of war in which many service teams took part.

The Trust's Scottish Branch made an impact with the help of members from the Serving Brigade and people of all ages flocked to the stand, wanting to find out more about Scotland's close ties with the Gurkhas and the Trust.

The stand quickly sold out of many of the items that were on sale and thanks to the people of Scotland a magnificent £2,000 was made for the Trust.
