The Gurkha Soldier - A Debt of Honour - New DVDs

The Gurkha Welfare Trust has put three new videos on the downloads area of the website. Meet some of welfare pensioners, an area welfare officer and see what life is really like in the Hills of Nepal.

The Soldiers
Meet Rifleman Bhimbahadur Rana and some of his fellow welfare pensioners. Rifleman Bhim served with the 4/5 Royal Gurkha Rifles from 1940-1947. He is now 87 years old. Hear about this time in the war and see where he lives today.

A Tour of Duty
Meet Hon. Lt Thakursing Gurung. Now a project officer at The Gurkha Welfare Scheme, he previously worked as an area welfare officer. See Lt Thakursing as he treks across rugged landscapes to visit some of our most frail welfare pensioners, not only to check on their general well being but to offer a warm smile and some companionship.

Extended Soldier Interview
Hear extended highlights from lifelong friends Rifleman Bhimbahadur Rana and Rifleman Tahalsing Rana. In this intimate video hear in their own words their stories of courage and bravery fighting alongside the British. Neither served for long enough to receive an army pension. Once the war was over they returned to their village of Tutung, Palpa.

At 6am the bombardment started from all sides at once.... At 10am the tanks stopped and the aeroplane bombardment began....
