PODCAST DESCRIPTION

During World War II American Air force pilot Ralph Kaplan flew missions to supply allied forces fighting in Burmese jungle. On one such journey his plane crashed in the jungle.

He lay alone in the jungle severely injured for several weeks before he was rescued by a Gurkha patrol and carried 10 days to safety. Ralph never forgot the act of kindness and courage of those who saved him that day. To hear more of this extraordinary story in Ralph's own words click the listen now button.

Sadly Ralph passed away in 2007. This recording was made available by Ralph's widow Patricia Kaplan. We thank her for allowing us to share his story.
